Terminal 3 Modernization

Sky Harbor International Airport | Phoenix, AZ

Premier produced the geotechnical evaluation for the Terminal 3 Modernization, a design-build project primed by DWL Architects & Planners with design builder Hunt-Austin Joint Venture. Premier completed subsurface field investigation, laboratory testing, geotechnical analysis, and provided recommendations on the design and construction of shallow and deep foundations, slabs-on-grade, retaining walls, pavements, and utilities.

Terminal 3 Modernization included potential extensions of Terminal 3 processor building, modification of the north concourse, and replacement of the south concourse. The north concourse was widened and remodeled to provide additional capacity in terms of more check points, servicing larger number of planes, and increasing arrival and departure facilities. The existing south concourse was completely replaced. The roadway pavements along Sky Harbor Boulevard were widened to accommodate expanded curbside operations for arrival and departing passengers. Correspondingly, underground utilities were relocated, as necessary, to accommodate changes to the roadway and the processor building foundations for the expansion of security screening and other areas.
