The Santan Freeway is part of the Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG) Regional Freeway System and connects Interstate 10 to the Superstition Freeway through the southeast valley. The completed freeways serve Chandler, Tempe, Mesa, Gilbert, Gila River Indian Community, and unincorporated portions of Maricopa County.
Premier prepared the plans, specifications and estimates for construction of about 8,300 and 3,200 linear feet of sound walls and retaining walls, respectively, and the maximum height of these masonry block walls was about 22 feet. Out of the four distinct locations of these walls, three were located on the north side of the freeway mainline. The sound wall was located immediately north of the existing Santan Channel and south of a single-family residential subdivision, which required extensive coordination efforts during design and construction phases of this project.
