The new City of Glendale storm drain system outfalls into the existing detention basin at the southwest corner of 63rd and Northern Avenues. This basin is part of the flood control solution identified in the Northern/Orangewood Strom Drain Project that eliminated flooding issues along the north side of Grand Avenue. An existing 108-inch reinforced concrete pipe was stubbed to the Northern Avenue roadway from the basin, and includes a manhole with a by-pass weir structure and a 30-inch concrete pipe stubbed to the west.
Premier provided civil engineering services to study the contributing drainage area, design the new storm drain system and develop construction documents for the segment along Northern between 63rd and 55th Avenues. Construction management assistance was also provided which mitigated disruption to the traveling public and local businesses.
